In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Give André Gacko a sheet of paper, he transforms it into a work of art in record time. Far from traditional artistic networks, he creates universes at his home, in Neuilly-sur-Marne, and passes on his passion by leading workshops in the department. Portrait of a funny bird.

THE REPORT BY VINCIANE LAUMONIER

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

André Gacko left Senegal to settle in Nord Pas de Calais where he became a paper artist.

Often animals, tigers, dragons or galloping horses.

At first, you don't see much, apart from his frantic fingers on the paper, then a head emerges and a character appears.

A talent which surprises by its simplicity and which offers a dreamlike look at one of the most common materials.

We were therefore seated in front of a bundle of white sheets and André Gacko asked me what sculpture I wanted to see born in his hands ...

But the passion for this very special sculpture has never left him.
The crumpled paper technique, "chifonnage", allows him to give life to a whole world of paper.
It is by observing carrier pigeons, when he was a child, in Senegal, that the passion was born.
A passion exacerbated by the monitoring of many animal documentaries.
Obviously, André is challenged by nature and the animals he willingly reproduces.
But his art is not limited to animals. Andre, who handles paper with incredible speed and dexterity, brings wrestlers,
characters from Greek mythology.
Supported by two galleries in Lille and Metz, André can take his artistic flight, like this bird of prey he has just created with his hands ...
